Last week, the University of Granada’s CITIC (Research Center for Information and Communication Technologies) hosted two important delegations from leading international research institutions: the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL) and imec.
On October 23, 2024, a delegation from INL, led by Director Clivia Sotomayor-Torres and 2D Materials Laboratory Director Andrea Capasso, visited CITIC-UGR. The purpose of this visit was to discuss potential collaborative projects between INL and CITIC-UGR, as well as the +QCHIP UGR Chair. During their time at the center, the delegation was introduced to various ongoing research initiatives, fostering discussions on future cooperation in research and training.
The INL, located in Braga, Portugal, is renowned for its contributions to nanoscience and nanotechnology, established through a joint initiative by the Portuguese and Spanish governments in 2005.
The following day, on October 24, 2024, members of IMEC, an international research and development organization based in Belgium, visited the University of Granada. Their interest in the UGR stems from the establishment of a new IMEC Research and Innovation Center in the Málaga Technology Park. The visit aimed to showcase the potential for collaboration in microelectronics, particularly through the +QCHIP Chair, which plays a crucial role in the EU-funded PERTE Chip program.
During this visit, the imec delegation toured CITIC-UGR facilities and learned about various research projects in microelectronics, further enhancing the possibility of fruitful collaboration in the field.
Both visits underscore CITIC-UGR’s commitment to advancing research and fostering international partnerships in cutting-edge technology fields.
