Science outreach activities
For the past 10 years, the Nanoelectronics laboratory and the CITIC have organized and participated annually in science outreach activities such as the European Researchers’ Night, Science Week, Café con Ciencia, and CITIC-Coffee. These events feature experiments and presentations aimed at the general public, conveying the main results of our research in an accessible, entertaining, and participatory manner. These activities will continue with the support of the PERTE-Chip Chair.
Promotion of Microelectronics Technology in Secondary Education
The Chair will colaborate in a program developed by the CITIC-UGR to promote ICT technologies among secondary school students. We are periodically organizing visits for final-year high school students. Depending on demand, these visits may occur weekly or monthly. During these visits, students are introduced to the importance of Microelectronics in our current society through brief informative talks. They also tour the center’s laboratories, including an external panoramic view of the clean room through the service corridor, where we showcase the projects currently underway, highlight the significance of their results, and encourage students to consider enrolling in an ICT degree program as they transition to university.
Permanent Exhibition at the Science Park of Andalusia
The Science Park of Andalusia is an interactive and educational center dedicated to science communication, located in the city of Granada, Spain. It has become one of the leading science museums in Spain and Europe. The Science Park aims to bring science and technology closer to people of all ages through hands-on and playful experiences.
The PERTE-Chip Chair is guiding and sponsoring a permanent exhibition on microelectronics. In collaboration with the park’s staff, a space will be designed, and the necessary outreach materials will be prepared to fill this space. The chair will provide both the material and knowledge resources needed to ensure that this exhibition is a complete success. Furthermore, we will request that this exhibition be a permanent activity, similar to others already established in the park. A permanent exhibition does not mean an unchanging one; rather, it will be continually modified and updated to remain relevant and incorporate ongoing advancements in technology.
Synergies with Other Chairs in the PERTE-Chip Program
The creation of the PERTE-Chip University-Industry Chairs Conference aims to foster synergies among the various chairs within the PERTE-Chip program. These synergies present an opportunity to enhance collaboration and cooperation, allowing for the achievement of common or complementary objectives in a more efficient and effective manner than if approached individually. This collaboration optimizes resource utilization, stimulates innovation and creativity, increases the impact and visibility of individual projects, and reduces costs by pooling resources and eliminating redundancies.
In this context, coordination meetings are being held among the different chairs, either online or in person, to exchange ideas and knowledge, combine skills and resources, and propose joint initiatives.
